Two Tips for a Successful Business Trip

Business trips can be stressful. If you're heading off on a trip of this kind in the near future, here are some tips which should help to ensure that it goes as smoothly as possible.

Arrange for a taxi to take you to the airport instead of using public transport

Trains and buses can be very unreliable. Given this, if you choose to travel to the airport on public transport, there is a chance that you will not arrive there on time and will end up missing your flight.

If your business trip involves meeting an important client, missing your flight could have disastrous consequences, as it could result in you either being late for your meeting or having to reschedule it.

Your lack of punctuality could have a very negative impact on your client's perception of you; they may conclude that you cannot be relied upon or that you do not take your business dealings seriously. This may lead to them deciding not to work with you again in the future.

As such, it is not advisable to use public transport in this situation; instead, you should arrange for an airport taxi service to take you to the airport, as this form of transport is generally far more reliable than public trains and buses.

When booking your taxi, make sure to ask for the driver to arrive about 20 to 30 minutes earlier than you need them to. This will ensure that, should there be any traffic jams during the journey, your taxi driver will still be able to get you to the airport in time for your flight.

Take steps to ensure you look presentable

Maintaining a neat and presentable appearance when you're travelling and all of your clothes are stuffed into a suitcase can be tricky. However, it is important to ensure that you look your best when you get off your flight and go to meet your business client.

The reason for this is as follows; in the world of business, appearances matter. If you arrive at your meetings looking dishevelled, your clients may assume that you lack professionalism or that you do not respect them enough to dress appropriately. This could affect their willingness to do business with you.

As such, it's worth making an effort to ensure that you look neat and tidy. There are a few ways to do this. Firstly, consider taking a travel steam iron with you in your luggage; this will allow you to quickly remove any wrinkles from the garments you intend to wear to your meetings.

Secondly, pack a travel-sized bottle of stain remover so that if you accidentally spill coffee, tea or food on your outfit just before you are due to head off to your meeting, you can quickly remove the stain.

Thirdly, if you are female and intend to wear tights to the meeting, make sure to pack a spare pair, in case your current set snag and tear.
